Having a long standing relationship with Mitsubishi, Alan Wood & Partners (AWP) was appointed as part of an early development team looking into the expansion of an additional line for the manufacture of SoarnoL, a brand name for Ethylene Vinyl Co-Polymer.
The development will include new pipelines, pipe bridges, working platforms, access walkways, mechanical plant and equipment and a new production building.
AWP was commissioned to assist with the site development plans and planning application, which took place in two phases:
Undertaking work for the pre-planning application, providing high level information to the Local Authority and statutory consultees/stakeholders with East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s recommendations being sought to allow progression on to phase 2.
During phase 1 AWP assisted Mitsubishi Chemical by presenting the project proposals to ‘The Single Conversation Group’. This national pilot scheme allowed Mitsubishi and its consultants to have early access to all the required statutory authorities including, the Council, service providers, Environment Agency and Natural England. The purpose being to ensure a smoother planning application for the proposed development.
The preparation of the full planning application incorporating further drawings and in-house produced 3D models including a fly-through of the construction stages. Geotechnical studies, flood risk assessments and drainage impact assessments were all provided by our in-house teams with air quality, water quality, transport impact assessment and ecology reports being procured through 3rd party specialists but managed by AWP.
During phase 2 public consultation surgeries were held for local residents with AWP participating in presentations and questions and answer sessions, alongside Mitsubishi Chemical.
Now approval has been granted AWP will be assisting with discharging of limited planning conditions and will continue to support Mitsubishi Chemical UK with their asset management and future developments.
