Planning Approval Granted for Burringham Bypass

21 July 2026

Planning approval has been granted for the Burringham Bypass, marking a significant milestone for the wider Trent Vale development in North Lincolnshire.

The new link road will connect the M181 directly to Burringham Road, creating a southern gateway into Scunthorpe and unlocking the first phase of the Trent Vale masterplan.

The bypass will provide improved access to the motorway network for local communities, while supporting future growth across the area. The scheme forms part of a wider vision to deliver six new villages alongside green infrastructure, open space, and enhanced walking and cycling routes.

Alan Wood & Partners has been involved throughout the project's progression, having delivered Phase 1 works and continuing its support through Phase 2. The planning approval represents another important step towards the delivery of infrastructure that will enable long-term development and investment in the region.

The announcement follows North Lincolnshire Council's approval of the scheme, paving the way for construction of the long-awaited road connection.
