Alan Wood & Partners has been providing Civil, Structural and Project Management services to I’Anson Bros for a number of years.
This latest project saw AWP undertake PM, QS, Contract Administration, Architecture, Civil and Structural design, Geotechnical services, as well as full Principal Designer role for the development of a new 23,000sq ft animal feed mill in Dalton, Thirsk.
Works included the design and construction of the piled foundations, warehouse and external yards areas and associated services. The Process Mill was then constructed as a turnkey product to include all building elements, equipment and commissioning.
The works were split into two packages with the foundations, civils, warehouse & office fit out under the Principal Contractor using the JCT ICD 2016 contract and the Process Mill building, cladding & equipment under a turnkey provider using the JCT D&B 2016 contract whilst under the supervisor of the Principal Contractor. Both phases of work were covered by the ongoing Principal Designer role ensuring continuity and transmission of all relevant information between phases.
The project has involved bringing all statutory services on to a green field site on the edge of a former airfield, with numerous planning conditions to be satisfied.
