Hull City Council / Esteem proposed a new primary school to replace the existing primary school, which was deemed no longer fit for purpose.
This three-storey building offers a new sports / events hall, SEND department, staff offices, external play areas and three storeys of modern teaching spaces.
The building's structural design features a composite deck and steel frame construction, which was developed to maximize the free area on each elevation. This design allows for the inclusion of combined natural and mechanical ventilation louvers and windows, optimizing the penetration of natural light throughout the floor plan.
Maintaining a clear structure in all internal spaces despite the stepped façade was a challenge that Alan Wood & Partners (AWP) successfully addressed. By using BIM and clash detection techniques, we delivered a structure that integrates seamlessly with the architectural design throughout the building.
AWP provided support in the form of our Geotechnical, Civil and Structural specialisms to deliver a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ facility.
